Sri Lanka’s premier 18-hole championship golf course is masterfully designed by renowned architect Rodney Wright and set amid a vast coconut palm plantation along the island’s southern coast. The course presents spectacular views and a series of thoughtful challenges for both casual and seasoned players.
Framed by lakes, abundant wildlife and the sweeping beauty of the Indian Ocean, the course is shaped in harmony with its natural surroundings, offering a golfing experience that feels immersive, unhurried and distinctly Sri Lankan.Built on the grounds of a former sapphire mine, this extraordinary course is the island’s first resort golf destination. Rodney Wright infused the design with the essence of Sri Lanka’s rich culture and tropical allure, creating a golfing experience unlike any other.
Highlight holes include short par fours at the 3rd (“Leopard’s Lair”) and the 9th (“Monkey Business”), with a lone tamarind tree in the fairway blocking progress on the former and a solitary coconut tree hindering the approach to the latter.
The back nine touches the coast at the 16th (“Ocean Corner”) and 17th (“The Tempest”) then the final hole is played next to the hotel, where the water-laden par three 18th (“The Money Hole”) brings the round to a dramatic conclusion.
