Southport Golf Club

Established in 1924, Southport Golf Club is a prestigious and welcoming club in the heart of the Gold Coast. It is a relaxed walking course with picturesque tree-lined fairways, ponds and lakes.

Southport Golf Club has its origins in the South Coast Entertainment Company, a leisure centre including a cinema and hotel, which developed a local dairy farm for recreational purposes in 1924.

A 9-hole course operated until 1948, after which the club decided to purchase the site and build an 18-hole course. Club Captain EF Doyle was instrumental in the design of the new course and was awarded life membership for his efforts.

The 110-acre Southport Golf Course is an easy path for walking, with undulating terrain and tree-lined fairways that meander to form two nine-hole holes.

Highlight holes include the 2nd and the third portion of the 14th (both greens are protected by ponds), the double dogleg par 5 of the 8th (with water on the left and right sides of the putting surface), and the par 4 of the 17th, which conceals another water hazard on the left side of the offset green.
