Geelong Golf Club

Architect Graham Papworth began the new millennium by redesigning the original course at Geelong Golf Club, which had been closed for a long time. Today, the nine-hole course is built around a large residential development, with the fairways weaving in and out of the extensive residential neighbourhood.

Established in 1892, the Geelong Club is Victoria's oldest golf club but fell into financial difficulties in the late 1990s. Unfortunately, it took nearly 20 years for the club to decide on its future.

Today, the new nine-hole course stretches over 2,000 metres and features a par-33 with four par 3s, four short par 4s and one par 5. Highlights include the 450-metre fifth (par 1) and the final (and longest) par 3, the 166-metre eighth.
