The Club is located high in the hills above the beautiful Northern Beaches, approximately 21 kilometres from the Sydney General Post Office.
Named after Lieutenant General John Monash, Australia's greatest military commander who fought in Belgium and France during the First World War, the Club suffered an early setback when a bushfire destroyed the clubhouse in 1957, but within two years a new building was constructed and the Club has never looked back.
In the new millennium, both Bob Harrison and James Wilcher have undertaken refurbishment work on the ground. Harrison replaced the greens on holes 2, 3, 8 and 11 in 2014, while Wilcher refurbished the bunkers on the 16th and remodelled the home green in 2017. There are plans to reconfigure the 12th, 13th and 14th holes, but the work has not yet been approved.
The Australian PGA Championship has been hosted twice at Monash University: in 1964, when Colin Johnston successfully defended his title (winning the tournament's inaugural stroke play championship), and in 1984, when Greg Norman won back-to-back titles in the event for the first time.
