The Grange Golf Club was founded in 1926 and the Cargie Rymill-designed course was opened a year after its inception. After the First World War, the layout underwent a number of changes and Vern Morcom was invited to make improvements. After nine years of renovation, the course was completed in 1965 and in 1967 the new West Course made its debut, hence the name East Course.
Nine years after its opening, the East Course at Grange Golf Club had its heyday when 21-year-old fresh-faced professional Greg Norman won the 1976 Westlake Classic; the first of an incredible 31 professional victories on the Australian Tour for the Great White Shark.
