Ube 72 Country Club is located in the center of Yamaguchi Prefecture and opened in 1961. It is the largest golf course in western Japan, with four courses centered on vast land and a perpetual pond. The Achisu Course is designed by Osamu Ueda, a master of golf course design nationwide. This is the club's oldest and most traditional course. Each hole is completely separated by deep green trees, and is surrounded by a forest so quiet that the phrase ``playing in nature'' fits perfectly. Of course, the grade of the course is a full-fledged championship course that has hosted PGA competitions in 1986, 1987, and 1992, as well as the Yamaguchi Open every year.
